Female Journalist Association is a non-governmental and non-profitable Organization that works on the capacity building of media and journalists in western Afghanistan.
Registered under the Ministry of Information & Cultural with License Number of # 282. While acting as an advocate of freedom of speech and a democratic atmosphere to relieve women’s violated rights and to improve gender equality.
The purpose of establishing the Female Journalist Association.
The Female Journalist Association was established by experienced and committed women to develop professional capacity and defend the working rights of women journalists.
Our History
FJA was founded in 2015 by a small group of female journalists who felt a need to support one another and to encourage more all-female journalists to pursue journalism at a time when there were few females faces in the media. As a nonprofit educational organization with more than 68 members across the Herat, FJA’s largest membership bases are generally concentrated in the Herat area. Members are also organized in other areas throughout the west region.

Capacity Building
FJA is a capacity-building association and is being led by a group of women Journalists to support women journalists and contribution to increasing especially the women’s role in socio-economic activities by working with media. Gender mainstreaming and women engorgement in media is the main mission of FJA and has been considered as priorities and basic needs in the field of journalism. All of the activities of this association directly related to female journalist and encouragement of women is a good way to let them take part in outdoor activities and help themselves and their family economically.
Membership
FJA brings journalism together in order to help them whenever there is an opportunity for female journalism to share with them or provide recommendations for them based on their knowledge, experiences, and capacities to other media organizations access to the national wide. The FJA offers journalists the chance to be part of our professional and social network.
